Advanced Reciprocating Gait Orthosis (ARGO)

Developed over a period of 10 years, the ARGO provides a real alternative for those who are normally limited to a wheelchair lifestyle but would like to get back on their feet. 

The ARGO remains the most sophisticated range of Reciprocating Orthoses currently available.   Designed in modular kits with a choice of back tubes, hip and knee operation cables, each ARGO requires only custom fabricated AFO’s to complete the simple assembly.

Key unique features include the patented stand/sit facility.  The knee units in the ARGO 60 and 90 contain pressurised pneumatic cylinders, which provide positive force assistance when moving from a sit to stand position, and also cushion the stand to sit motion.  There are six primary products within the range, accommodating patients from a weight range from 25kg to 90kg.

  1. Suitable for children to a maximum weight limit of 25kg. 
  2. Optional growth kit available. 
  3. Manually operated knee locks

ARGO 60

  1. Suitable for teenagers/adults to a maximum weight of 60kg. 
  2. Hip abduction and pneumatic knee units option available.
  3. Choices of hip drive cables, knee lock cables and back tubes available.
  4. Single push/pull cable operation
  5. 8 models in the range to accommodate weight limits up to 60kg.

ARGO 90

  1. Suitable for adults to a maximum weight limit of 90kg.     
  2. Pneumatic knee units provided on all models as standard. 
  3. Choices of hip drive cables, knee lock cables and back tubes available.
  4. Single push/pull cable operation.

Assessment ARGO

In addition to the three above Orthoses we have also developed a corresponding range of Assessment ARGO’s to complement the 25, 60 and 90 units. 

These assessment kits are all provided with adjustable back tubes and thigh steels, as well as adjustable footplates instead of custom AFO’s.  These allows patients of varying hip widths and heights to be fitted with an ARGO to evaluate potential suitability prior to a final purchasing decision being taken by the clinician.  This range has proven to be an invaluable tool in offering risk free prescription and avoiding potential disappointment after final fitting to an unsuitable candidate.
